another keepsake....

I love the vintage jewelery that can be found in many drawers of a Grandmother. My blog button is taken from a large clear vase of jewelry that I saved from my dad's mother and keep displayed in my china cabinet.
Amongst the drawers and drawers of my Grandma's jewerly that I've discovered this past week, I brought home this box and made these necklaces that you can read about here. They've really been conversation pieces in the week that I've been wearing mine.
I brought home this filled box of jewelery and Izzy has had so much fun opening and closing the lid of the box and putting on the necklaces, that I decided to make this her new jewelery box. The box actually belonged to my Great Grandmother who passed away 8 years ago.

To doll-up the box, I used vintage hankerchiefs that I found amongst all of the storage and made them into flowers. I then used several of the pins in the box to decorate the flowers...a little glue  and some ribbon, and we have a new keepsake for Izzy's room.

It will be fun to lether play dress up with her Great Grandma's treasures and to fill it with her own little treasures and jewelery as she grows.

  1. That is so fantastic to see those beauties. Your girls will enjoy them....and you can tell them that they belonged to their Great Grandma so they're antiques.

  5. This makes me think of my mom's jewelry box. Great memories of digging through it as a teen to find something "new" to wear.
What fun she will have. Love how you added the pretty touches to the top.
