Magical Holiday...

Day TWO

what makes your holiday
 m a g i c a l?

one word to answer that question -
CHILDREN
We are so blessed to have our three beautiful girls and
I love passing on the traditions that i experienced as a child, as well as creating a few new ones...

Old Traditions...

...baking cookies with all the girls in the family on a saturday afternoon
...attending the candlelight Christmas Eve church service
...holiday shopping on the day after Thanksgiving with all of the girls in the family
...making my Santa list each year using the ads and catologues
..baking gingerbread cookies and peppermint candy cane cookies
...decorating the tree with all of the cherished handmade ornaments
...staying up late on Christmas Eve to wrap the presents
and
...waking up bright and early to see that YES, Santa does exist!

New Traditions
...trying to capture that perfect yearly holiday photo for the Christmas card
...using the advent calendar at the beginning of the month
...giving the girls matching Christmas jammies at the beginning of the month
...reading a different Christmas book each night by the Christmas tree with the girls all snuggled up next to me
...a visit to Disneyland to see the magical ice-covered castle, parade and decorated Small World - and standing in an unexpected drizzle of fake snow on Main Street
...displaying the girls' Christmas artwork throughout the house
...driving around after dark to see the decorated houses
...buying a special ornament for each daughter that represents something from the past year
...making a special ornament to give each member of the family
...having Friday night family movie night to watch the various Christmas movies
...teaching the girls about Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas
...cherishing each Christmas spent with our little blessings!

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

  5. I love your list of traditions! Christmas is all about tradiitons and comfort. My husband didn't celebrate Christmas growing up, so he doesn't have any traditions. I get to make them all! Our son is only 15 months and really doesn't know what is going on yet, but next year we will be all about the traditions!

  12. I love that your list of new traditions is longer than the one of old. I think it's always fun to have new ones that are memories with your own family. Plus how lucky are you to be able to go to Disneyland and make that a yearly tradition.

  13. Stopping by from the Blog Fest. I really enjoyed reading your list of new and old traditions. I may have to borrow some of those! My family is small and we don't live near any family, so I try to have as many special things as possible for my kiddos.
