the airport

I grabbed this fun idea from Heather over at Theta Mom - what a fun trip down memory lane, especially if you are one who keeps pictures on your computer from years ago - i am better at burning them to cds so my memory lane is a short one in this trip -

The rules of picture tag are:Open your first photo folder. Scroll down to the 10th photo. Post that photo and story on your blog. Tag three others (or more) friends to do the same.
here is my photo:

i purposely took a picture from a folder of my husband's pictures because
1. i am never in the ones i take (obviously) and
2. the husband seems to take those rather random unpolished pictures, whether or not that's on purpose or just a lack of photography skill, i won't debate with him.

i will follow the rules as much as i truly want to cheat and not post this ever so gorgeous picture of me (??), here is 1st folder from photographer husband jason, file #10.
here is my story:
this photo was taken in may, on our first trip back to illinois to introduce our newest daughter to my family, who all still live in my hometown. the california to illinois trip requires waking up before the sun rises, and arriving in the midwest after the sun has set. needless to say, it's a long
exhausting, keep my fingers crossed kind of day. we manage to bring 5 suitcases, be in 3 different cars, 2 airplanes, 8 seat assignments, 3 different as-far-away-from-one-another terminals, carry 48 washable markers, 4 notebooks, 28 filled ziploc bags of snacks, both heathly and sugar filled bribey snacks, and who knows what else -stressed out yet? need i go on? so the face i am sporting at 6 am here pretty much sticks with me throughout the day. i always bring a book for some odd reason, as if there is any actuality to me really being able to read, or even have a free hand to hold a book! it's usually about 2 hours into the first flight where the patience runs thin and i start telling the husband that we need to just move back and i can't do this again...needless to say, we are about to take our 10th trip since moving. we do it again...and again...and we will continue to with ziplocs, markers and carry-ons in tow!
happy travels to the rest of you!
my favorite tip while researching how to sanely travel with children

"Take lipstick and a small mirror in your hand luggage - if you're having a bad time, take two minutes to put on some lipstick and give yourself a pep talk in the mirror."
i laugh just thinking of me doing this on the next flight!
i'll let you know how that works out for me
